What is a Designer Conference Room anyway?
The answer to that will vary from person to person. Some persons are designers by occupation, and their skillset is to put together an upscale-looking, coordinating, professional-looking, expensive-looking Conference Room. They'll choose the color scheme, the décor, the furnishings, and everything in between. And some professional designers are really good at what they do, and put together stunning conference rooms.
Then there are folks out there who just know what the heck they are doing and they have a natural eye for color and they pull it all together without batting an eyelash. They could be designers if they had the time, but they’d rather run their business.
And then there is the bold customer, who has worked so hard to build his business from the ground up, he could not imagine delegating the decisions of how his office is going to look, to a third party. These customers are bold and confident in their choices and since they’re paying the bills, whether it is good, bad or ugly, it is their decision! (My kind of confidence!)
But 98% of the time, customers simply order what they like or what they determine matches their current décor and it looks just perfect.
If you want a designer conference room, but you're not a designer by occupation, don't be afraid to take the reins. Designing an office is really no different than designing what you like for your own home—you’re simply using business office furniture instead of home furniture. With this in mind, simply ask yourself, "What would create a warm and nurturing office environment that will enhance staff happiness?" Because a happy staff promotes growth, and growth of your business means job security for your staff, and job security means a happy staff, and a happy staff promotes growth, and ... well what a wonderful cycle of happiness your business could be! Here are a few ideas:
Cozy Break Areas
Areas with comfortable seating options like sofas and lounge chairs where employees can relax and recharge. Incorporate coffee tables and soft lighting to create a welcoming atmosphere. Soft lighting is the key. No one wants to retreat to a cold, austere lunchroom with bright florescent ceiling lights and tile floors.
Personalization Options
Allow employees to personalize their workspaces with their choice of decorations or desk accessories. Providing options for personal touches can enhance their connection to the workplace.
Plants and Greenery in the Office Make a Difference
Plants are extremely important, even if you must utilize faux greenery. If real plants are an option, they not only improve air quality but also contribute to a calming environment that promotes well-being. I repeat, plants, especially faux palm trees bring a hopefulness anywhere they are placed.
Color Psychology
Choose colors that evoke positivity and calmness. Warm earth-tones with soft blues and greens can create a serene atmosphere, while brighter colors like yellow can energize the space. And actual photographs of nature such as tranquil beach scenes, the desert, lush mountain ranges, ocean coasts, always take the edge off.
Each of the above photos are designer conference rooms or boardrooms.
The Marble Conference Table was custom made here in the USA for our customer (who was a designer) with a matching Marble Credenza. This particular designer is a very talented young man from Atlanta Georgia. He designed that boardroom from the ground up.
The Gray Table with the white Chairs was also a table made here in the USA for our customer. The business owner knew what he wanted, selected everything himself, along with a matching Credenza, and the room turned out beautifully.
The Gray Boat Shaped Table with the White Cabinets was designed by the customer himself and he did a sensational job! Everyone loves this stunning boardroom. Note how he paired a gray table, with grayish-brown earth-tone wood floors, a brown wood wall, and distressed white cabinetry. And he paired it with very comfortable, yet simple, black guest chairs. As a personal opinion, I feel those simple guest chairs made all the difference and look 100% better than any conference chair on wheels would have. Those chairs were the key in solidifying the feeling of "comfort" because chairs on wheels would have been too tall and too officey.
